  • Verify information before publication and clearly distinguish facts from opinions or speculation.
  • Promptly correct errors and ensure transparency in updates or clarifications.

2. Independence

  • Editorial decisions are made free from undue influence by advertisers, sponsors, or other external interests.
  • Staff members must disclose conflicts of interest and avoid activities that could compromise editorial integrity.

3. Fairness & Balance

  • Present diverse viewpoints where appropriate, giving subjects of coverage the opportunity to respond to criticism.
  • Avoid favoritism or one-sided representation of issues.
  • Ensure all reporting is respectful, impartial, and inclusive.

4. Respect for Human Dignity

  • Respect the rights, privacy, and dignity of individuals.
  • Avoid content that discriminates, stereotypes, or promotes intolerance on the basis of race, gender, religion, ethnicity, culture, or any personal identity.
  • Special care must be taken when covering vulnerable groups, including children and marginalized communities.

5. Transparency

  • Clearly label sponsored, branded, or promotional content so that audiences can distinguish it from independent editorial work.
  • Disclose sources where possible, while protecting anonymity when necessary for safety or confidentiality.

6. Accountability

  • Accept responsibility for all published content.
  • Provide accessible channels for audience feedback and complaints, responding in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Commit to regular review and improvement of editorial standards in line with global media ethics.

7. Integrity in Visual & Digital Content

  • Do not manipulate images, video, or digital content in a way that misleads or distorts reality.
  • Clearly identify illustrations, simulations, or AI-generated visuals when used.
  • Respect copyright, intellectual property, and fair use principles in all media.

8. Safety & Responsibility

  • Protect the safety of sources, contributors, and staff, especially in sensitive reporting contexts.
  • Avoid publishing material that could cause undue harm, incite violence, or spread misinformation.

9. Professional Conduct

  • Maintain respectful relationships with colleagues, sources, and the public.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism in language, presentation, and conduct.
  • Refrain from plagiarism, misrepresentation, or unethical practices.

10. Continuous Learning

  • Encourage training and capacity building for journalists and staff on ethical standards, digital literacy, and responsible reporting.
  • Stay updated with international best practices to ensure credibility and relevance in a rapidly evolving media environment.
