President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to facilitating an attractive investment climate in the Maldives, encouraging Saudi Arabian businesses and entrepreneurs to explore growing opportunities across vital national sectors. Delivering remarks at a reception held at Kurumba Maldives to commemorate the 96th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the President highlighted that a promising new chapter in bilateral economic cooperation is now underway.

Addressing dignitaries alongside First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, President Muizzu noted that relations between the two nations are anchored in a shared Islamic faith, mutual respect, and enduring brotherhood. He emphasised that the ongoing economic reforms in the Maldives provide a robust platform to deepen bilateral trade, investment portfolios, and joint developmental partnerships.

The President expressed profound gratitude for the Kingdom’s steadfast developmental assistance to the Maldives over several decades, particularly acknowledging Riyadh’s vital support following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. He also praised the visionary leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, noting Saudi Arabia’s remarkable strides in economic diversification, innovative infrastructure, and sustainable development.

Highlighting targeted avenues for foreign direct investment, President Muizzu identified key high-yield sectors ripe for Saudi collaboration, including tourism, infrastructure, public housing, healthcare, fisheries, renewable energy, and transportation. He assured the Saudi business community that his government stands ready to provide full facilitation, ensuring that partnerships deliver mutually rewarding economic dividends for both brotherly nations.

Underscoring major milestones in bilateral engagement, the President cited defence cooperation under the Charter of the Multinational Maritime Defence and looked ahead to the Maldives’ participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh as a conduit to further elevate people-to-people links and commercial ties. Concluding his address, President Muizzu reiterated the Maldives’ unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia in international forums, expressing firm confidence in achieving a more prosperous, shared future.
