True success in both this life and the hereafter begins with purifying the inner soul and rectifying one's relationship with Allah rather than focusing on outward pretences, the nationwide Friday sermon reminded the faithful across the Maldives today. Delivered in mosques throughout the country, the sermon cautioned worshippers against becoming consumed by materialism while neglecting spiritual salvation and core Islamic beliefs.

The sermon highlighted that an alarming number of people compromise their eternal life in pursuit of temporary worldly comforts and transient status. It stressed that polishing external appearances while abandoning the state of the inner heart is a profound deception, emphasising that the journey toward meaningful success starts solely when an individual purifies their inner self and directs their intentions toward the Almighty.

Drawing from the timeless wisdom of the early righteous predecessors (Salaf), the sermon cited the profound counsel that whoever reforms their inner self, Allah will rectify their public standing; whoever repairs their relationship with Allah, He will settle their affairs with mankind; and whoever prioritises the hereafter, Allah will suffice their worldly needs. This served as an important reminder that fulfilling religious devotion naturally brings tranquility to one's worldly life.

Drawing a relatable parallel to modern daily life, the khutbah noted how quickly people rush to recharge a dying mobile phone battery out of fear of losing contact, yet remain heedless to the far greater risk of losing sound Islamic creed (Aqeedah). It warned that an authentic creed is a sacred trust that must be preserved and passed on to upcoming generations, urging vigilance against misleading ideologies that seek to dilute Islamic principles within society.

Concluding the sermon, khatibs called upon all Muslims to strive for spiritual rectification before the Day of Judgment, when neither wealth nor offspring will be of any benefit except to those who present themselves before Allah with a pure and sound heart. Believers were urged to remain steadfast in their faith, nurture Islamic identity in their households, and prioritize deeds that secure eternal success over fleeting earthly pursuits.
