A Class 12 high school student in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, was allegedly sexually assaulted in a local hotel room by an acquaintance she met through the social media messaging platform Snapchat. According to preliminary findings by law enforcement officials, the suspect coerced the minor victim into meeting him after orchestrating a coordinated campaign of digital blackmail and intimidation.
The complainant stated that the accused had illicitly gained possession of private photographs and videos depicting her during their online communications. Using the compromised media as leverage, the suspect threatened to circulate the material publicly across social platforms while issuing explicit threats of severe physical harm against her father if she refused to comply with his demands to accompany him to a hotel.
Under severe duress, the young student met the perpetrator, who took her to a hotel room where the alleged sexual assault occurred. Following the incident, the victim confided in her family members regarding the ordeal, prompting them to approach the local authorities to seek immediate legal action and protective intervention.
In response to the formal complaint, Gwalior police officially registered a First Information Report (FIR) invoking strict provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act alongside relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code governing criminal intimidation and sexual assault. Medical examinations and formal counselling protocols have also been initiated for the survivor.
Investigating officers have launched a dedicated manhunt to apprehend the absconding suspect, tracking his mobile device activity and digital footprint. Furthermore, forensic and investigative teams are actively examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained from the hotel premises to establish entry timelines, verify the identity of the accused, and gather supporting material evidence for prosecution.
