Maldives Police Service has taken four local men into custody during a targeted anti-narcotics operation carried out in Vilimalé, as authorities step up nationwide measures against illicit narcotics trade and abuse.
According to police authorities, three of the four individuals detained during the operation are notable figures active within the local Maldivian film and entertainment industry.
Police stated that following their apprehension, officers launched comprehensive search procedures targeting the suspects and related premises, which remain actively underway.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the detained individuals or details regarding any contraband seized during the operation.
