Heavy rainfall is forecast to sweep across all regions of the Maldives over the next three days as active seasonal weather sets in, the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) confirmed today. The weather office noted that several areas are likely to experience heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms.

Despite the wet conditions, authorities highlighted that wind speeds are expected to stay within normal levels. Consequently, seas are not anticipated to become excessively rough, reducing severe hazards for routine sea travel across the country.

In response to developing storm activity, the MET Office issued a White Alert from Kaafu Atoll to Thaa Atoll, effective from 08:45 to 14:45. The advisory was triggered by incoming rain bands and the likelihood of isolated thunderstorms across central atolls.

Looking at broader patterns for the month, meteorological forecasts indicate that northern and central atolls will receive higher-than-average rainfall compared to previous years. In contrast, southern regions are projected to see below-average precipitation for the period.

Alongside the rainfall outlook, the MET Office reported that both maximum and minimum temperatures across the entire archipelago are expected to remain higher than usual this month. Residents and travelers have been advised to stay updated on routine local weather advisories as conditions develop.
