Italy’s Holding Carisma is set to open its debut resort in the Maldives, "Nila Coral Island Maldives," on the island of GDh. Kodegalaa next month. Departing from traditional resort models, the newly developed property has been purpose-built to deliver an ultra-private, highly personalized island living experience.
The boutique island features just seven expansive villas, crafted to evoke the feeling of a private home rather than conventional hotel accommodations. Accommodating a maximum of around 40 guests at a time, the property offers spacious two- and three-bedroom villas alongside an exclusive five-bedroom residence.
Designed with environmental preservation in mind, all accommodations are situated on land rather than overwater, protecting the island’s native foliage, pristine shoreline, and fragile reef ecosystem while providing guests direct reef access straight from the beach. The resort’s aesthetic was conceptualized by Italian architecture studio 'Hass', seamlessly blending fine Italian craftsmanship with the natural beauty of the Maldives.
Milla Zegna Cagnoli, representing the owners' family, noted that their foremost objective is to offer guests the warmth, intimacy, and exclusivity of a personal residence rather than a commercial hotel stay. For families, weddings, or private celebrations seeking complete seclusion, the entire island is also available for full private buyouts.
In addition to secluded living, Nila Coral Island will feature bespoke experiences, including private excursions and water sports such as diving, kitesurfing, water skiing, and wakeboarding. The resort will also showcase a curated culinary program blending Italian and Asian flavors with fresh local ingredients, alongside a boutique spa offering traditional and Ayurvedic wellness therapies.
