Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has become the first state-owned enterprise (SOE) to conduct the "Digital and AI Essentials for SOEs" training programme, marking a major milestone in the port authority's digital transformation efforts.
The initiative was held in collaboration with the Maldives Innovation and Digital Company (MINDCO). Underscoring the strategic priority of adopting emerging technologies across corporate operations, MPL's Chief Executive Officer and executive management team actively took part in the sessions.
Titled "AI Essentials: Understanding and Working with AI," the programme was designed to equip public officers and leadership with a solid, practical foundation in understanding generative artificial intelligence systems and navigating the modern digital landscape.
Key modules of the workshop centered on enabling executives to determine when and how to deploy AI tools effectively, evaluate model outputs critically, and collaborate seamlessly with automated systems while maintaining full accountability and ethical standards for AI-assisted work.
Through this training partnership, MPL aims to strengthen its leadership capabilities, streamline administrative and operational workflows, and lead the Maldivian public sector in adopting innovative, data-driven technologies.
