President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Maldivian market should not be perceived as small, highlighting that more than two million tourists visit the archipelago each year in addition to its resident population.

The President made these remarks while addressing the opening ceremony of the Maldives-Pakistan Business Forum. He emphasised that the Maldives is not merely a nation of around 500,000 citizens, but an expanding destination that offers substantial commercial reach and diverse opportunities for foreign investors.

Highlighting key growth areas, President Muizzu noted that lucrative investment potential exists across tourism, industrial sectors, construction, education, and healthcare. He urged businesses from both nations to step forward and explore these avenues, stressing that enhancing bilateral connectivity is vital to strengthening trade relations between the Maldives and Pakistan.

Addressing food security, the President underscored that maintaining an uninterrupted supply chain is a fundamental matter of national security for an island nation, rather than a purely commercial pursuit. He pointed out that Pakistani agricultural commodities already reach the Maldivian market and noted the significant scope for further expansion.

Concluding his address, President Muizzu invited Pakistani investors to partner with the Maldives in modern food processing and climate-smart agricultural technology, aiming to build resilient, technology-driven trade ties between the two countries.
