The man who escaped from the National Drug Agency (NDA) center in K. Himmafushi has been recaptured following a police operation. Ahmed Fairish, native to HAA. Hoarafushi, had been transferred to the Himmafushi NDA center last Thursday for treatment following his arrest due to repeated disturbances and harassment caused in Malé.
His arrest on the 17th of this month came while Mohamed Saeed was staging a 35-hour hunger strike due to the distress caused to the family and neighbors, demanding a permanent solution to the issue. Saeed ended his protest after receiving assurances from relevant authorities, specifically thanking Home Minister Ali Ihusaan for visiting the protest site.
Fairish escaped from the treatment center yesterday afternoon. Police stated that search efforts successfully located him in Malé, and he is currently under police custody. Authorities continue to monitor and implement further measures to ensure public safety and appropriate case handling.
