In a raw and emotionally charged appearance on Karan Johar's talk show Koffee With Karan, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan broke her silence on the harrowing night her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, was critically injured in a violent midnight knife attack. Addressing the speculation and online whispers that have swirled since the incident, Kareena delivered an unfiltered, firsthand account of the terror that unfolded inside their Mumbai home and out on the streets.
The attack took place in the early hours of January 16, 2025, when an intruder forced entry into the couple’s Bandra residence. Saif confronted the assailant, sustaining multiple stab wounds across his body before security and emergency services could intervene. The actor was rushed into emergency surgery shortly after, spending days under intensive medical care while fans and the film industry remained on edge.
Recalling the immediate aftermath, Kareena described a surreal scene of panic and adrenaline that felt like a nightmarish movie sequence. With Saif bleeding profusely, time was of the essence. Abandoning any hesitation, Kareena ran out onto the street dressed only in her sleepwear, shouting frantically to stop passing vehicles and secure immediate transport to the nearest hospital while first responders were en route.
"I was running out onto the street in my pajama t-shirt, completely in shock, screaming at cars to stop," Kareena shared on the couch. "It felt like an intense sequence straight out of a thriller film, except it was our real life. The trauma didn't end that night either; for six months straight after that ordeal, I couldn't sleep without trembling at every little noise."
Joining the conversation, Saif Ali Khan reflected on the ordeal as the single most harrowing encounter of his life, especially given the proximity to their young family. While acknowledging the physical recovery and psychological scars left in the wake of the home invasion, both actors expressed immense gratitude to the medical staff, Mumbai police, and their close circle of family and friends whose rapid response ensured Saif pulled through.
