President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared Thursday, 12 November 2026, an official government holiday.
The decision aims to give government employees an extended break during the holidays, as Republic Day falls on Wednesday, 11 November, and is a public holiday.
November 11 commemorates the Maldives' second establishment of a republic in 1968.
This day is among the most widely celebrated holidays in the Maldives.
